The Male Contraceptive Initiative

Scientists profess that they are a step ahead to develop male contraceptive pill which will also increase libido

Drug Designing: In Melbourne researchers and scientists are developing a contraceptive pill for masculine. They are near to developing a male contraceptive version of the pill that includes the perk effect of increasing libido.
This is initiated by Dr Sab Ventura who expatiates in Drug Discovery Biology and his team say the drug blocks the transport of sperm, which is different to existing versions of the male pill which have hormonal targets or reduce the fertilization capability of sperm.
If the next stage of drug development comes out to be successful, then the pill will be in the market in coming 5-10 years following the clinical trial phases.
The scientists assert that the pill is a hormone-free formula that is set to bypass the side-effects like libido, birth defects and infertility, the ailments that have impeded the buildout of a male contraceptive.
Based on their previous research which concluded that you can produce infertility in mice by genetically omitting two proteins that trigger the transport of sperm. These proteins are the α1A-adrenoceptor and P2X1-purinoceptor.
There is already a widely-available drug approved for long-term use that targets one of the two proteins linked to the movement of sperm called Flomax.
The scientists and researchers are now striving to evolve a chemical to hinder or completely block the second protein so that a pill can be released with the combination of two. Researchers posit that it will also circumvent the aftereffects involved within the existing drugs.
